Focaccia bread recipe for beginners is very easy and simple. Focaccia bread is an Italian flat bread that is oven baked and similar to pizza in texture and style. This is also known as “White Pizza” or “Pizza Bianca”.

Focaccia bread is laced with the taste of pizza in texture of bread. Usually Focaccia bread is served as side dish. Focaccia bread has multiple regional variants. You can find many different ways of preparation of Focaccia bread.

Cold, refrigerated dough is the secret to making delicious focaccia! Resting the dough for 18 to 24 hours in the fridge yields extra-pillowy and airy focaccia. Although good focaccia can be ready in 3-4 hours also. This 4-ingredient Focaccia recipe requires only 5-7 minutes of preparation time.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour (300gms)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons Dry instant yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • butter for greasing
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons whole dried rosemary leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped Parseley/ Coriander leaves
  • 2-3 sliced cherry Tomatoes

    How to make Focaccia Bread

    1. Yeast Activation

      First of all activate the yeast by combining active dry yeast, sugar and lukewarm water in a small bowl. Stir it let this mixture to rest for 8-10 minutes till it foams up. Mind it older yeast doesn’t foams up well and may effect the fluffiness of Focaccia.

    2. Prepare Focaccia Dough

      Take a large bowl and add all purpose flour, olive oil, activated yeast, salt and oregano seasoning. Pour lukewarm water and make a smooth dough.

    3. First Rise of Dough

      Spray or apply some oil on dough and cover the bowl with cling film. Let it rest in warm environment for 2 hours. After 2 hours the dough will rise double the original size. Punch the dough properly and stretch and pull it few times.

    4. Second Rise

      Grease the baking tray and transfer the dough on it. Stretch the dough well to fit in baking tray. Cover it and let it rest for another 3-4 hours.

      Once the dough doubles do dimpling with fingers. That is make 15-20 indents with fingers or fork over the dough.

    5. Baking

      Preheat the oven at 400 F. Meanwhile top your focaccia with rosemary, parseley leaves, sliced cherry tomatoes.

      Finally sprinkle olive oil all over the unbaked focacciabread. You can use melted butter also.

      Now bake Focaccia bread in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until it becomes light brown.

      Once done remove from microwave and brush it with olive oil/ butter.
