Ingredients for Poha Kheer

  • 1 cup Poha
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4-5 Almonds (Chopped)
  • 8-10 Cashews (Chopped)
  • 10-12 Pistachios (Chopped)
  • 4-5 Green cardamom (Crushed)
  • 10-12 raisins
  • 500 ml Full cream milk

How to make Poha Kheer Healthy Indian Instant Dessert

  • Firstly take a heavy, thick bottom pan and boil full cream milk.
  • When milk starts boiling, take poha and wash it with water.
  • Now add washed poha to milk.
  • Let it cook on low flame and keep stirring the kheer continuously.
  • Cook it till poha swells in milk. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Now add half the quantity of chopped dry fruits in poha kheer, keep the rest for garnishing.
  • Let it cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Next add crushed green cardamom and sugar. Mix well and stir for 4 minutes.
  • Now switch off the flame and let the poha kheer cool.
  • Garnish with remaining dry fruits.

Recipe Notes

  • To make poha kheer, you can use both thick or thin poha.
  • Poha kheer thickens while cooling. So adjust the consistency accordingly.
  • You can also use other dry fruits like dates, makhana, fig etc.
  • If using dates and fig then reduce the quantity of sugar in Poha Kheer.
