 Ingredients for Ragi Cheela Recipe

  • 1 cup ragi flour
  • 2 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 capsicum (green pepper)
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp dry mango powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • salt as required
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 Tomato finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup fresh yoghurt (curd)
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (heeng)

How to make Ragi Cheela

  • Firstly prepare the batter by mixing ragi flour, besan, and curd in a mixing bowl. Make semi flowable batter.
  • Now add chopped vegetables, salt and other spices in the batter. Mix well.
  • Add some water to maintain the consistency of batter.
  • Keep it aside for 5-8 minutes.
  • Now take a pan (preferably non stick) and spread 1 tbsp oil on it.
  • Add a ladleful of batter and spread gently.
  • Cook it for 3-4 minutes over low flame. After 3-4 minutes it starts leaving the sides. Add some oil drop by drop on sides.
  • Now flip it to other side and again cook it for 4-5 minutes.
  • Make them crunchy and crispy by cooking for few more minutes.

  • Serve Ragi Cheela hot with your favorite dip, chutney or ketchup.
