  • 2 cups water or 250 ml water

  • 1 cup milk / add as per taste
  • 2 to 3 green cardamoms (elaichi)
  • 2 cloves (long)
  • 2 black pepper (kali mirch)
  • ½ inch cinnamon (dalchini)
  • 1 inch ginger/ 1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder

How to make masala chai

  1. In a small pan take 300 ml water and heat it.
  2. Take all the spices in a mortar-pestle and Crush coarsely.
  3. Let the water come to a boil and then add the crushed spices.
  4. Boil the spices along with the water for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Now add 1 teaspoon tea. Boil for a minute.
  6. Add milk and sugar as per taste. Let it boil properly for 3-4 minutes
  7. Masala chai is ready to be served.

Recipe notes:

  • Black tea of different brands have different strengths so the quantity has to be used accordingly, stronger the tea lesser tnhe quantity.
  • Cow milk has thinner consistency so more of it is used whereas buffalo milk is thicker and lesser amount is required.
  • Do not overboil tea before adding milk.
  • Its better to add crushed cardamoms at the end after adding milk. This retains the aroma of cardamom.

Recipe of Ginger Honey Lemon Tea

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 inch Ginger, grated

1.In a pan heat 2 cups of water.

2.Before it begins to boil add ginger.

3.Just as it starts to boil add the tea leaves.

4. Let it boil for 1 minute and switch of the flame.

5. Now add Lemon juice and Honey.

6. Strain it into a cup and serve hot

Recipe notes

  • Either black or green tea can be used
  • Water after adding tea should not be boiled for long time.
  • Always add lemon juice and honey after switching off the flame to retain their nutritive value.

Recipe of Cinnamon Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon green/ black tea

How to make Cinnamon tea

  1. Boil the water in a pan.
  2. Add cinnamon powder, black pepper powder and boil it.
  3. Add black/green tea and switch off the flame.

  • Cinnamon sticks can also be used in place of cinnamon powder. But powdered cinnamon gives more flavour.

  3. Add the green tea powder and sugar to it and simmer for a few minutes (2 minutes).
  4. Now strain the tea to cups and serve hot.

Recipe notes:

  • If using honey, add it after switching off the flame. Do not heat honey on flame. Honey can be added on hot drinks.
