In the rainy season everyone likes to eat hot and crispy pakodas along with tea. But if you are bored of eating potato-onion pakoras every monsoon, then try moong dal pakodas in this monsoon. This is tasty, crispy Pakoda recipe which can be made easily anytime. Also Moong Dal Vada/ Pakoda is Indian Street food served with grated radish and onion juliens with chutney. Let’s know what is the recipe to make it.
Ingredients for Moong Dal Pakoda:
- 1 cup Moong dal (Yellow Split Moong Dal)
- 1 Green Chilli chopped
- 1 tablespoon coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1 Pinch Heeng (Asofoetida)
- Salt as per taste
- Oil – for deep frying
How to Make Moong Dal Pakodas
- Firstly Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for two hours.
- Remove the lentils after two hours. Grind the lentils with two spoons of water and chilli in a grinder.
- Take this mixture out in a big bowl and add heeng, coriander and salt and mix it.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add about a teaspoon of mixture with your fingers.
- Then Fry the moong dal pakodas until golden over low flame.
- Finally Serve hot with green and sweet chutney and Masala Chai.
Recipe Notes:
- I personally prefer to keep the powder of Moong Dal prepared. When needed then just make a mixture with water and keep it for around 20 minutes.
- Fry over low flame to get crispy and properly cooked pakodas.
- Add finely chopped curry leaves and chopped onion for more flavours.
- In case you have prepared large amount of pakodas then don’t worry, store in fridge and make moong dal pakoda curry.
- Indian street food style Moong dal vada is served with grated radish (mooli) and onion juliens with chutney.
