Vegetables in Monsoon
Soil is not considered suitable for growing green leafy vegetables during rainy season. Therefore, one should consume vegetables such as gourd, pumpkin, bitter gourd, gilka (Tori) and root vegetables like sweet potato, suran (Yam), konphal, arabi, potato etc.
Coarse and small grains in Monsoon
Consumption of coarse and small grains is considered beneficial for health. During the rainy season you can eat porridge, rajgira, makki, sama, kuttu or mandua. However, avoid eating multigrain bread or biscuits during this season.
Pulses in Monsoon
In this season people often refrain from consuming meat and fish. In such a situation, people can take pulses to meet the deficiency of vitamins, minerals and fiber along with protein. In this season, a person must include two types of pulses in the diet – first, kulith and second Alsane tonak(kidney beans). Both these pulses are extremely beneficial for skin and hair.
Special Items
Each season has its own special fruit. Mango in summer and deep fried bhajiya during rainy season. For frying bhajiya, use filtered peanuts, mustard, coconut oils. Remember do not use oil again after frying bhajiya.
Without essential fats in the diet, the body cannot get vitamin D. So eat pakoras of your choice without being scared. Remember excess of anything is bad.
