Potatoes when cooked with roasted ground sesame seeds(Til) makes a very quick and tasty recipe of Til Aloo ki Sabji . Pinch of lemon juice added while preparing Til Aloo ki Sabji adds on to the flavour. Potatoes (Aloo) are most commonly available easily in most of the Indian households and this King of vegetables can be mixed with any vegetable to enhance the taste. Here I am coming up with a very easy, quick and tasty recipe of Til Aloo ki Sabji (Sesame Potatoes) that is very much liked by me and my baby and goes well with Pooris (Indian puffed bread), Methi parantha, Chapati, Namak Ajwain Parantha.
Til Aloo ki Sabji is so easy to make that this can be prepared quickly when you don’t have much time to prepare elaborate lunch or dinner or you are confused what to make.
Recipe for Til Aloo Ki Sabji (Sesame Potatoes)
Ingredients:
- 4 Potatoes medium sized (peeled and cut into pieces)
- 2-3 tablespoon White sesame seeds (Dry roasted)
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 2 Dry Red chilli
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon Hing
- 2 Green chilli slit into half
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander finely chopped
How to Make Til Aloo ki Sabji (Sesame Potatoes)
- Peel and cut the potatoes into small cubes.
- Soak them in water till used.
- Dry roast sesame seeds and pulse them in a blender just once or twice to make a coarse powder.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, hing, dry red chilies and green chillies.
- Saute for 10 seconds.
- Add the cubed potatoes and sesame powder.
- Add coriander powder and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Sprinkle little water and cover the pan.
- Cook for 5 minutes over medium flame. Stir in between.
- Check potatoes if they are done.
- When cooked Til Aloo ki Sabji switch off the flame and add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and cover the pan for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot Til Aloo ki Sabji with dal and rice or poori, chapati or Parantha
Recipe Tips for Til Aloo ki Sabji:
- You can use boiled potatoes also to make Til Aloo Ki Sabji but make sure not to overboil the potatoes. If potatoes are overboiled the this will result in stickiness and sesame flavour won’t be well absorbed.
- Til Aloo Ki Sabji can prepared as side dish with Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhani, Kadai Paneer and goes well with Indian breads like Chapati, Poori, Parantha.
