Instant Besan Cheela is a tasty and easy to make snack prepared from Gram flour and some spices. Addition of chopped vegetables adds on to nutritional values.
This protein rich Indian snack is a very good and healthy snacking option especially for kids. Moreover Instant Besan Cheela fulfills untimely cravings for food and snacks in healthy way.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Besan (Gram Flour)
- 2-3 tablespoon Sooji (Semolina)
- 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1 Medium onion finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric (Haldi) powder
- Salt as per taste
- 1 Green chilli finely chopped (optional)
- 1 1/2- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoon oil
How to make Instant Besan Cheela (Gram Flour Pancake)
- Firstly take a bowl and add Besan, Sooji, Turmeric Powder, salt.
- Add 1 cup of water and make a smooth mix. Mix well in one direction without lumps.
- Now add chopped coriander leaves, onions, green chilli and mix well.
- Next add remaining water to get a thin consistency batter.
- Take a non stick pan and add 1/2 tablespoon oil. Heat it over medium flame.
- Now pour a laddle full besan batter on pan and spread in circular motion with the back of ladle. Lower the flame.
- Let it cook for 1 minute. You can see cheela leaving the edges.
- Then drizzle ½ to 1 tsp oil on the cheela at the edges and all around. Skip oil if you are using non stick pan.
- Flip and now cook the other side of cheela.
- Cook this side till you see golden spots on the besan cheela.
- Serve besan cheelas plain or with mint chutney or with tomato sauce.
Recipe Tips:
- Alter the spices as per individual taste.
- Add other finely chopped vegetables like carrots, beans, capsicum.
- You can use normal iron tawa also to make Instant Besan Cheela. Here you will have to use oil while preparing cheelas.
- You can also add greens like amaranth, fenugreek leaves and spinach.
